The NSG Port Solution is available for two types of deployment: On-Site on a port’s computing infrastructure, and with port IT control and oversight; or in a cloud-based hosted and managed environment, with NSGIS control and oversight. While the software functionality is essentially the same, the deployments are quite different. The differences between these deployment options are explored in the On-Site Deployment and In the Cloud Deployment pages.
Whether deployed On-Site or In the Cloud, a port has to decide how much or how little of the solution to deploy, in particular with regards to services. The NSG Port Solution requires a certain amount of services, configuration, training and data services in order to make the software be useful to the port. NSGIS has designed implementation packages to go along with the software, which in its experience are sufficient to get a port going with sufficient functionality and momentum that a port has a high chance of long-term success with its implementation. Such packages are designed to give a port “breathing room” before deciding on which additional data, functionality, services, or training it needs in the long run.
A typical deployment package consists of the following:
[unordered_list style=”green-dot”]
- NSG Port Solution software, installed and configured if On-Site, or just configured if In the Cloud
- A basic Needs Assessment and Requirements Gathering to determine the port’s IT infrastructure, security mechanisms, availability of data, and highest priority objectives
- Configuration of the map viewers that come with the solution
- User and administrator training
- Data capture, conversion or migration
- Support
